Sewage Cleanup in Miami

A sewage backup is not a mess to mop up — it's a biohazard sitting in your home. Sewage carries bacteria, viruses and parasites, it soaks into everything porous within minutes, and the contamination spreads well past the water you can see. We remove it safely, take out what can't be saved, disinfect what can, and dry the structure properly.

Our Sewage Cleanup Process

1

Emergency Call & Safety Assessment

We tell you what to avoid before we arrive — which rooms to stay out of, whether to shut off anything — then get a crew moving. Keep children and pets away from the area entirely.

2

Containment & Protection

The affected area is sealed off before work begins so contamination doesn't travel through the property. Crews work in protective equipment throughout.

3

Sewage Extraction & Waste Removal

Standing sewage and solid waste are removed with equipment built for it, not a shop vacuum.

4

Removal of Contaminated Materials

Porous materials that absorbed sewage — carpet, padding, affected drywall, insulation — are cut out and disposed of according to regulation. We document everything removed, for you and for your insurer.

5

Cleaning, Sanitizing & Deodorizing

All remaining surfaces are cleaned and treated with antimicrobial agents. Odor is treated at the source rather than covered, because sewage smell returns the moment a masking agent wears off.

6

Drying & Final Verification

Structural drying with air movers and dehumidifiers, with moisture readings monitored until the property is back to normal levels and verified safe.

Why Sewage Is Different From Other Water Damage

Category 3 — What the Trade Calls Black      Water

The restoration industry sorts water into three categories, and sewage is Category 3. It carries bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella, along with viruses and parasites, so contact carries real health risk and disturbing it without containment spreads contamination into rooms that were never affected. It also changes what can be kept: hard, non-porous surfaces can be cleaned and disinfected, but porous materials that absorbed sewage — carpet, padding, drywall, insulation, particleboard cabinetry — generally cannot be made safe again and have to come out. That's not upselling; it's the standard, and it's why a proper sewage job looks more destructive than people expect.

Areas We Serve

AquaDry Plus responds to sewage backups and contaminated water across Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties — from Homestead and the Keys up through Miami, Kendall, Doral, Hialeah, Coral Gables, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Residential and commercial.

Can I clean up sewage myself?
We'd strongly advise against it. Household cleaners don't neutralize what's in sewage, mopping spreads it, and cleaning without containment moves contamination into unaffected rooms. There's also a genuine health risk from contact and from disturbed airborne particles.

What has to be thrown away?
Generally anything porous that absorbed sewage: carpet and padding, affected drywall and insulation, particleboard cabinetry, mattresses and upholstered furniture. Hard non-porous surfaces — tile, sealed concrete, metal, solid wood — can usually be cleaned and disinfected.

Does insurance cover sewage backup?
Sometimes, but it's often a separate add-on rather than part of a standard policy. It's worth checking your specific policy. We document everything from the first visit either way.
